Sales and Revenue Is a Team Effort!

Sales is not just the responsibility of one person or one department—every team member plays a role in helping the hotel succeed. Whether you work in Guest Services, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Food & Beverage, or any other department, you can directly impact revenue, guest satisfaction, and repeat business.


Guest Services (Front Desk)

Guest Service Representatives are often the first and last point of contact. They:

  • Help sell rooms and upgrades

  • Identify and share potential sales leads

  • Communicate guest needs and opportunities

  • Support revenue strategies in real time


Housekeeping

Housekeeping may not seem like a sales role, but they are in guest spaces more than anyone else and can spot valuable opportunities, such as:

  • Recognizing company names or group affiliations in rooms

  • Overhearing guest needs during friendly conversation

  • Noticing frequent stays or personal preferences


These observations can lead to new business, corporate accounts, or loyalty opportunities when shared with leadership or sales staff.


Housekeeping can also elevate guest satisfaction by:

  • Informing leadership of special preferences (e.g., favorite snacks or beverages)

  • Helping create personalized touches like welcome notes or amenity packs

  • Delivering unexpected “wow” moments that turn guests into loyal customers


Every Department Matters

Engineering, Food & Beverage, Night Audit, and other departments also interact with guests and may hear about:

  • Upcoming events

  • Business travel needs

  • Requests for meeting space, long-term stays, or group rates


When any team member hears a potential opportunity, it should be shared.


The Goal:

Work together. Communicate. Look for opportunities.
