Bottle-Style Eye Wash (Personal Wash Units)
Portable or wall-mounted bottles filled with sterile saline. Their job is to start flushing in the first seconds, especially when a full station is more than a few steps away. What every employee should understand:

Which Situation Is Your Property In?
Most hotels fall into one of three situations, and it is set by the SDS review of the chemicals in each area:
Corrosive chemicals in use: a primary station (plumbed, or self-contained where plumbing is not possible) is required within reach, reaching the full 15-minute flush. Bottles can supplement it but never replace it.
Low-risk area: depending on local rules, bottles may be acceptable as the primary means of flushing. This is a decision for management based on the hazard assessment.
No injurious corrosive chemicals in an area: a station may not be strictly required there at all, though flushing the eyes with clean water is still the right first response to any irritation.

When to Use an Eye Wash Station
Use one right away if any of these happen:
A chemical splashes or sprays into your eyes
You feel burning, stinging, redness, or irritation
Dust or debris gets into your eyes
You are not sure whether a substance is harmful. Do not take chances
Do not wait. Start flushing immediately. Every second a chemical sits in your eye is a second of damage. Flush first, then have someone else check the SDS and make the calls.
How to Use a Plumbed or Self-Contained Station
Go straight to the station. Do not delay.
Activate the flow. It should stay on hands-free.

Keep the Equipment Ready
